Posted by RumorMill as Los Angeles Dodgers Rumors, New York Yankees Rumors
The music has apparently stopped in managerial game of musical chairs and it looks like Joe Torre isn't going to be the one left standing. Two weeks after walking away from a one year, $5 million offer from the Yankees, ESPN is reporting that Torre has accepted a three year $13 million contract to manage the Los Angeles Dodgers. Immediately after the news broke that Torre would no longer be wearing the pinstripes, rumors surfaced that the team he grew up watching (then the Brooklyn Dodgers) wanted his services. The only problem was that they already HAD a manager. Grady Little quietly stepped aside citing personal reasons (yeah like maybe he didn't like the fact that his bosses were actively shopping his job?) for his resignation and tonight it seems the transition is complete. I can't quite believe that Torre is no longer the Yankee skipper after the 4 rings and 12 playoff appearances, but stranger things have happened when a Steinbrenner is running the show. It should be interesting to see how well Torre can mend the Dodger clubhouse and whether or not he can return another once proud franchise to glory.

1And, according to the Riverside Press Enterprise, the Dodgers are hoping A-Rod will follow Joe west.
