Posted by RumorMill as Kansas City Royals Rumors
With all the news lately centered around the Yankees, Red Sox, and Twins, it's easy to forget that for the first time in quite a while, the Kansas City Royals figure to be a factor in the off season moves. According to the Kansas City Star, the Royals have roughly $25 million to spend and plan to target Jose Guillen as well as Japanese import Hiroki Kuroda.
They will likely have competition on Kuroda from some teams with traditionally much larger pocketbooks but it appears that GM Dayton Moore has the green light to make a splash again this winter, much like they did with Gil Meche last year. However things play out, it's nice to see the Royals finally willing to spend some money.

1With 190 losses over the last two years it’s going to take more than $25 million and probably a few years.

2I don’t think it’s going to take a terrible amount of time. I’ll go on the record saying that the Royals will be within 3 games of .500 in the ‘08 season.
They’ve got a solid youth movement, (and have finally decided to be more than just a farm team for the franchises willing to actually spend some money) much improved pitching, a new manager (who likes to win) and, most importantly, a GM that can knows how to move and shake in the off-season.
no more will my beloved KC Royals be the laughing stock of baseball.
