Late last night Jayson Stark reported that the Dodgers had reached a 2 year agreement with free agent outfielder Andruw Jones. The deal is reportedly worth $36 million which means the Dodgers are hopping to see more of the 2004 or 2005 player rather than the one that took the field last year and batted a whopping .222. While Andruw has never hit for much of an average (reaching .300 only once in his 11 year career) last year was his worst by far. His batting average wasn't the only stat to suffer, Jones hit only 26 home runs after averaging 46 over the two prior years.

The signing gives the Dodgers quite a bit of depth in the outfield and it's expected that they'll try to flip one of their outfielders in a deal for starting pitching. Look for their names to pop up more prominently now in discussions for the likes of Bedard and possibly even Haren or Santana.
