Posted by RumorMill as Atlanta Braves Rumors, Cincinnati Reds Rumors
This is one trade rumor I haven’t seen before: Ken Griffey to the Braves? Now, this Atlantic Journal article is really more of a suggestion by the sportswriter than an actual rumor but I figured I’d discuss it anyway. Obviously the Braves are in need of a new center fielder with Andrew Jones departing. And, they’ve said they probably aren’t looking for a long term solution since they have so many quality prospects in their farm system (don’t they always?). So, in that respect I suppose a trade for Griffey would make sense. He’d give them a year, maybe two of power and production, he’d probably attract a few more fans (even in Atlanta where the fans aren’t exactly known for their passion), and Jr. might get a shot at the playoffs next year. From the Reds’ perspective they should probably dump as many veterans as possible and stock up on as many quality prospects as possible. I just don’t see them doing much of anything, even with Baker at the helm. This one probably falls into the “makes too much sense to actually happen” category but it would definitely be interesting.Be sure to subscribe to the Rumor Mill via our RSS feed or email to make sure you never miss out on the latest mlb trade rumors.

1That article was by Terrance Moore. Nobody listens to him. If we did all Braves players would be black. He is Preposperous!!!. If you want the scoop from Atl. check out Dave O’Brien. He is the Braves beat writer and is WAAAAAAAY more knowledgable than Moore.
Griffey is not a fit in Atl. We need a CF. Griffey was moved to RF because the demands were too great in CF. Plus we do not need anyone else that spends so much time on the DL.

2The bigger shock would be T. Moore wanting a “player of no color” playing CF for the Braves.
