The Baltimore Sun is reporting that the Cincinnati Reds, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Seattle Mariners appear to be the leading candidates to acquire left handed ace, Erik Bedard. The article also mentions that talks haven't really died down much since the GM's left the Winter Meetings at Nashville but that no deal is imminent. Seattle has been rumored to be offering a deal centered around Adam Jones and the Reds would likely offer up Josh Hamilton among others. If Baltimore decides to rebuild, this would certainly seem to be the year to do it via trades.

I have trust in MacPhail but c’mon already. Trade Bedard for the best 3 prospects. Trade Tejada for 2 or maybe 3. Trade Roberts for at least 2. As good as these 3 are we’re gonna win 70 games with or without them. At least start developing 8-9 good young prospects in exchange for 3 guys. All 3 will be gone in 2 years anyway.

i’ll be happy as long as Bedard doesnt end up with the Mets. but you’re right, McPhail should be able to get 5 or 6 prospects for Tejada, Bedard, & Roberts. They need to strip that team down and start over.

Well he started and got Three nice pitches for Tejada, Roberts is going to be the hard one to move. If I’m right he is the oldest of the three and I think has seen his best years start to pass him by. Also you don’t want to get to young to fast. Then you will be looking for some kind of a leader and they are hard to come by for the price they have with Roberts that is at least.

Rave, that was a pretty impressive haul for Tejada. If the O’s can get deals like that for Bedard and Roberts they’ll be in VERY good shape.

I love the Tejada deal. Nothing against Miggy. The guy just wants to win. It was time. Great haul for him from Houston. Now, instead of 8 or 9 good prospects for the Tejada/Bedard/Roberts trio we could end up with 11 or 12. This is how Arizona turned it around and won a division title. We’re on the right track……..FINALLY!!!!

Jay Bruce, one of the most coveted prospects in the game, would probably not be enough to entice the O’s to let Cincinnati have Bedard. John Fay of the Cincy Enquirer is reporting an unknown source as saying Bruce would be sufficient on his own. If that is the case, I am beggiing Wayne Krivsky to make the deal. Bedard’s presence in the rotation w Harang and Arroyo, not to mention possible Bailey and Cueto give the Reds the inside track to the playoffs.

Bedrad is going to be a National, or a Mariner so Reds fans don’t hold your breath.
