Posted by RumorMill as Colorado Rockies Rumors
The Colorado Rockies have agreed to a two year deal with MVP runner up (and in my book, the more deserving player) Matt Holliday. The deal is reportedly worth $23 million over the two years and keeps the team from having to fight the player in an arbitration hearing. While arbitration used to be fairly common, teams are more and more trying to avoid the situation which can at times embitter the player and damage the relationship for the long term.
However, the deal will also allow Holliday a chance at a HUGE free agent pay day at the age of 30 if he continues to put up numbers like his .340 batting average, 36 home runs, and 137 RBI from last year.

1Holliday had an amazing season in ‘07, if Jimmy Rollins hadn’t been such a darn good all-around player, Holliday would have been the NL MVP beyond a shadow of a doubt.
