With Fukudome unattainable, SignOnSanDiego.com has the Padres interested in adding an outfielder through a trade. One potential partner is the Pirates who might be willing to give up Jason Bay, Xavier Nady or Nate McLouth. Of course with free agent outfielders Mike Cameron and Geoff Jenkins still out there, it may be too early for the Padres to pull the trigger on a deal that would force them to give up highly-touted prospect Chase Headley.
