The Orioles have been listening to offers for pitcher Erik Bedard (13-5 with a 3.15 ERA last year) according to the Baltimore Sun. But, before they’ll ship him off, they want to find out what it will cost to keep him beyond 2009 when his current contract runs out. If he is traded, look for the O’s to opt for a few young prospects in return. The Dodgers are the most likely frequently mentioned suitor but they’re apparently also interested in pursuing Marlins third sacker Miguel Cabrera. They probably don’t have enough prospects they’re willing to give up to make both trades happen.
In another Oriole rumors, the Mets have expressed interest in catcher Ramon Hernandez but aren’t willing to cough up a high end prospect in return. They may opt for free agent Yorvit Torrealba instead.
