Mr. October, Reggie Jackson signed as a free-agent with the Yankees for a bit over a half million a year on this date in 1976. In five World Series, Jackson batted .357 with 10 home runs, 24 RBIs and a slugging percentage of .755.And in 1962 the major leagues decided to return the All-Star Game to a once per season event. From 1959 to 1962, a second game had been played each year to benefit the players' pension fund.
