Joe Nuxhall, the man who was both the youngest player (15 years, 10 months, 11 days old) in major league history and “The Ol’ Lefthander” on Reds radio broadcasts has past away according to the Cincinnati Post. He pitched in one game for the Reds in 1944 (the war years also produced a one-armed outfielder and a St. Louis Browns World Series) but didn’t return to the majors until 1952. He retired after the ‘66 season with a career record of 135-117 and became a Reds announcer a year later.
