Rumor: Giants and Yankees discussing Matsui Trade

Various media including the Mercury News are reporting that the Giants are interested outfielder Hideki Matsui. The Yankees would likely want pitching in return and therein lies the rub. The Giants seem willing to trade reliever Jonathan Sanchez but the sticking point is who else they are willing to give up to make the deal happen. There's also the issue that Hatsui had arthroscopic surgery on his knee during the off-season which makes him a bit of a risk. On the plus side for the Giants, Hidecki would be a big draw for San Fran's large Asian-American population and might have enough star power to help Bay Area fans recover from the Bonds saga (which, by the way continues today in federal court).

1make the deal yankees….then we can get santana with the money that is freed up….its a win win situation….maybe even bernie w. can come back…or what the heck…bonds wouldnt be bad either…with the short porch in right,,,he might even hit fifty homers leagally…the thing that irks me is all the talk..get er done….so we can go on and improve the team…..

3Cashman doesn’t want to give up Hughes secretly but it might get done eventually for Santana. We’ll have to wait and see. As for the Matsui trade I think it’s a nice deal for both sides. I’ve heard Matsui/Shelley Duncan for Lowry/Sanchez. Giants offense is offensive. Yankees need a lefty in the pen and get a solid starter in case any of the kids or Moose gets hurt or just don’t pitch well. Plus they come cheap while dumping Matsui’s salary. DO IT.

4DUMP MATSUI NOW. YANKS NEED TO GET SANTANA. THEY SHOULD UNLOAD DAMON AS WELL WE ALSO NEED A BIG BAT AT FIRST THAT CAN FIELD. MONEYS NEVER A REAL ISSUE WITH THE YANKS
