The East Valley Tribune is reporting that the Arizona Diamondbacks have extended and offer to Ramon Vazquez to replace departing second baseman Orlando Hudson. Interestingly enough, Vazquez's stats last year were nearly identical to Hudson's however, Vazquez had career highs in several categories while Hudson had a statistically down year. If the Dbacks are going to be able to withstand Hudson's departure they're going to have to hope Vazquez continues to improve.

Vazquez hit a career high .290 while driving in a career best 40 runs last year playing third base last year for the Texas Rangers, but spent most of his previous career as a middle infielder. The 32 year old infielder is reportedly seeing a multi-year deal, and has sparked the interest of several teams. While terms of the Dbacks offer were not available, it is expected to have met the multi-year requirement.
