The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Mitchell report will be released in the two weeks leading up to Christmas. It would have been interesting to see it before this week's winter meetings and the effect it would have on trades and possible signings but the timing of the report is just one more sign that baseball doesn't really care to get performance enhancing drugs out of the game. I'm sure this doesn't come as a shock to anyone after the league's adoption of an impotent drug policy and reports that teams were notified in advance of drug tests but it's still a shame.
